Welcome

Four years ago I challenged Senator Mike DeWine for the Republican nomination to represent the people of Ohio in the United States Senate.  Circumstances did not play out as I would have liked them, but the hardest part for me was the gut wrenching feeling that nothing was going to change - the status quo would continue, and the Nation we leave for our children and future generations would continue to flounder.  Sadly my prognosis was right on target.

Education – The President’s “Grad Nation” Plan - Part 3

Mr. Portman’s new proposition (2/15/2010) suggests a continuation of the Republican mantra of spend and charge – the result of which is a debt left behind for our children and the generations to follow.  I cannot imagine an American alive today who would not love to support Mr.

Education – The President’s “Grad Nation” Plan - Part 2

By William Pierce, on Mar 4, 2010

The underlying premise of “Grad Nation” is the notion that ineffective teachers are the cause of academic deficiencies which lead a student to drop out of school.  Having taught in public and private high schools in Ohio for ten years I will admit I have seen more than a teacher or two who lacks the content knowledge of the subject they are teaching or lacks the skills to conveying such knowledge to their classroom of students.  Should they be removed from the classroom – absolutely yes.  Are they common among the faculties of the schools I have worked – absolutely not.
