Let's Rebuild Our Manufacturing Base

All political contenders now understand that unemployment is the critical issue for Ohioans today and that it will continue to dominate the news running up to the elections this fall.  How they react to it varies greatly.


Rob Portman expounds on his belief that that the key to jobs for all Ohioans is the entrepreneur and the small businesses they create.  He extols the virtue of small businesses and insists we must support the owners so they have the ability and freedom to generate more jobs.  I could not agree with him more.

Health Care – A Learning Opportunity

The House votes are over and the tally is complete – time will tell the final outcome and the unintended consequences that will follow.  But there are some critical learnings to take away from the process and an underlining subliminal message we must take note of and follow through with to make the process better in the future.

My years of teaching in the public school system have led me to the generality that the top 15% of the students in each district are receiving an education above and beyond reproach which culminates with a host of Advance Placement classes representing college quality work in the high school setting.  Most of these students fall into the category I mentioned in the previous post of having “the inborn appreciation and motivation to achieve success at the highest of academic levels.”

Mr. Portman, Let’s Get Real …

Mr. Portman’s new proposition (2/15/2010) suggests a continuation of the Republican mantra of spend and charge – the result of which is a debt left behind for our children and the generations to follow.  I cannot imagine an American alive today who would not love to support Mr.
